WELCOME TO OUR 3-YEAR-OLD CLASS!
About Our Classroom:
Our basic goal for the 3-year-old class is to help children and families successfully adjust to life in the classroom. A mix of free play and structured experiences guides the children through a day of growth, learning, and fun.
The teacher-created curriculum is theme based and includes, among many other things, a variety of pre-reading, pre-math, and STEAM related concept activities. Children have access to the classroom piano and participate in other music and movement fun. Arts or crafts are offered each school day. All aspects of a child’s development, social, physical, intellectual, creative, and emotional, are included in the 3's targeted learning goals throughout the school year.
Our teachers believe that children learn through play and encourage them to try new experiences and complete tasks at a relaxed pace, thus fostering a positive attitude toward school and learning. Children learn routines, follow rules, and practice problem solving with one another. Kindness and empathy are modeled and encouraged throughout the day.
Specific Learning Objectives:
1. Develop self-control by learning to take turns through listening, talking and sharing.
2. Develop self-confidence.
3. Grow in responsibility by learning the proper care of classroom materials, toys, books and personal property.
4. Increase ability in expression through storytelling, dramatization and shared experiences.
5. Express creative ideas while working with clay, paints, crayons, scissors, paper and other materials.
6. Develop an appreciation of literature and music through stories, poems and music.
7. Enjoy music through singing and participating in rhyme.
8. Develop a willingness to confront and to solve simple problems.
9. Develop a mental curiosity for learning: e.g. numbers, colors, shapes, concepts, and emergent literacy skills.
